satsukiyama.jpg
Satsukiyama Zoo is located in the Satsukiyama Park, attracting many visitors not only from Ikeda City but also from neighboring cities and towns. Since opening of Satsukiyama Zoo in 1957, it has been popular among many people. In the field of about 3,000 square meters, the zoo offers many must-see animals such as rare wombats and wallabies from Australia and alpacas from the high Andes (elevation of 4,000 meters and above).
Wombats are hardly seen in other zoos and rarely bred other than in Australia where they inhabit. In Satsukiyama Zoo, two babies were born in the past.
